Digitised dissertations
The Library provides a service to host digitised dissertations, intended to showcase exemplary student dissertations. You can browse current exemplar dissertations here on GCULearn. The following steps outline the process that academic staff should follow to submit digitised dissertation hosting requests to the Library:
- Before contacting the Library, academic staff must ensure there is no business sensitive material or personal data included in the dissertation and that the dissertation has been passed through Turnitin.
- Staff must ensure the student owner of the dissertation has signed a GCU Library deposit declaration for projects and dissertations authorising the Library to make their dissertation available.
- Staff must then complete the digitised dissertation request form to send their request to the Library. To complete this form, you must already have the completed GCU Library deposit declaration and a PDF copy of the exemplar dissertation.
- Once your request has been processed, the library will contact you to confirm that the exemplar dissertation has been made available and will provide you with a direct link.
Please note that as defined by the University’s Generic Retention Schedule, undergraduate and masters dissertations made available on GCULearn will be retained for three years only. Records retention schedules can be obtained from the Information Compliance Team.
If you require any further assistance or guidance in submitting a dissertation for hosting on GCULearn please contact libraryresources@gcu.ac.uk. If you are a student looking for information about accessing digitised dissertations, you can find this in our Dissertation and honours project guide.
