What’s involved?
This semester the Students’ Association are delivering a programme called Give It a Go, through which they will be running a series of introductory activities that any student can get involved in. You can Give It a Go with no commitments; if you enjoy the activity you partake in, there will be plenty of information available on how to continue with it, and if once is enough for you, that is completely fine.
This programme aims to get students involved in the local community through volunteering for external charities or organisations, joining local clubs or groups or, of course, joining societies.
How will participating in this activity/opportunity allow students to make a positive difference in the communities that we serve?
Most events delivered by this programme are created with local charities and non-profit organisations, where you can try out an activity. Throughout the session, the organisation will inform you of their organisation, the services they provide, and how you can get involved. The wide range of volunteering opportunities that will be made available through this programme will have a positive impact on the local community.
What are the benefits of taking part in this activity/opportunity for participating students?
The programme's main purpose is to get students involved in the local community. Taking part in these activities is a great way to meet like-minded students, make friends, join societies or even create your own society.
Volunteering in the local community is another opportunity to meet people, make friends and learn more about the city you live in. If you need work experience for a part-time job, volunteering is the easiest way to put something valuable on your CV.
