Student Leaders programme
The Student Leaders programme supports all GCU students to enable them to develop as leaders, build confidence, make a great contribution and meet new people. The programme offers the opportunity to develop the following Common Good attributes:
- Responsible leadership
- Confidence
What’s involved?
The Student Leaders programme is a series of free workshops designed to help identify and develop your leadership skills. It is open to any GCU student, whether you study on the Glasgow or London campus.
The Student Leaders programme is based on the Skills Development Scotland Skills 4.0 framework and was developed in partnership with the Social Enterprise Academy (Scotland).
Through attending the Student Leaders’ workshops, with four workshops being offered under each of the key leadership skills:
- Learning about myself – self-management
- Leading others – social intelligence
- Achieve change – innovation and creativity
Students will be able to explore deeper leadership skills they need to develop and reflect on what they could do to become more effective leaders.
We support this development by offering skills workshops that include sessions run by external organisations and employers.
How will participating in this activity/opportunity allow students to make a positive difference in the communities that we serve?
Students will be able to apply the skills they develop through participating in the programme to their voluntary roles, whether within or out of the University.
What are the benefits of taking part in this activity/opportunity for participating students?
Participating students will develop leadership skills and confidence and will have the opportunity to meet new people from across the University. The workshops are active and fun, and participating students receive a certificate once they have completed the programme.
