- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Responsible leadership
What’s involved?
GCU London sponsors the UpRising Leadership programme, designed for 19-25yr olds. This transformational programme provides leadership training and much more. Aimed at people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds, participants are exposed to the UK’s most senior leaders across the political, private, public and not-for-profit sectors. With a clear focus on social action and community projects, participating young people are encouraged to rise up, take action to make a positive change and become the best they can be.
How will participating in this activity/opportunity allow students to make a positive difference to the communities that we serve?
As we move forward with UpRising, GCU London continues its sponsorship, offering mentoring, teaching input and space. We continue to build a relationship with UpRising and are happy to offer three places on the programme for one GCU staff member and two GCU London students. As participants do not have to pay to participate in the UpRising programme, this is a fantastic opportunity for our staff and students to make a positive difference.
What are the benefits of taking part in this activity/opportunity for participating students?
This initiative has brought and continues to bring benefits to local communities, the young UpRisers (proving them with leadership skills and network connections to succeed), GCU London staff and GCU London students, who can all be rightly proud of our association, connection and relationship with this hugely successful programme.
Success stories
Twenty-nine young people graduated from the London programme in July 2016. They worked on several social action projects which have and will continue to benefit their local communities.
