“Incredible” GCU Social Work Society go above and beyond with charity campaign
Kind-hearted students have been helping to spread some Christmas cheer by collecting warm clothing for two Glasgow charities.
More than 26 bags of warm jackets, hats and gloves were donated to Help 4 the Homeless and Maslows Community Group thanks to the efforts of GCU Social Work Society.
The campaign encouraged staff, students, friends, family and the local community to lend a helping hand to those facing homelessness and destitute over the festive period.
Both charities have referred to the society’s efforts as “incredible” and believe it will make a “huge difference” to those touched by their generosity.
Recent BA (Hons) Social Work graduate, David Grimm said it was an easy decision to get involved.
He explained: “As a society we became aware of these two charities really needing resources to help their cause.
When walking through the town I’ve become more aware of people of all ages and genders on the street needing help and support - so I was keen to do what I could when offered the chance.”
David added: “I would advise other students to get involved in similar community projects.
I entered this clothing drive thinking only a few of us would donate however the generosity we saw has been overwhelming and beautiful.
I'd like to say thank you to everyone that helped and supported us.”
