Festival for the Common Good 2025

FestivalCG900x440
24 student-led events are set to take place between the 6th and the 12th of April

The Festival for the Common Good is back for 2025, with 24 events taking place over a hectic week of celebration.

Second year students from the Department of Fashion, Marketing and Events (FMTE) - Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS) are putting theory into practice between the 6th and 12th of April, while raising funds for charitable causes across the city.

The Festival for the Common Good 2025 brings together over 140 students studying the "Event Delivery and Management" module to deliver 24 diverse events at venues throughout Glasgow. From fashion shows and murder mysteries to cocktail making and bingo nights, the festival offers something for everyone while supporting the University's mission of working for the common good.

Each event partners with a local charity, including organizations like Breast Cancer Now, SAMH, Keep Scotland Beautiful, and Smart Works. Not only will students gain invaluable real-world experience in event management, but they will also make a positive impact in their community.

Dr. Michael O'Regan, Module Leader, explains: "This festival represents a perfect fusion of academic learning and practical experience. Our students have embraced every aspect of event planning—from concept development and budgeting to promotion and execution. They've worked directly with venues, sponsors, and charity partners to create events that will not only entertain but also contribute to important causes."

With events ranging from £3 to £15 and some already selling fast, Glasgow residents and fellow students are encouraged to check out the full programme below and help support all the hard-work put in by students and staff at GCU.
