Dust down your gladrags and look out those dancing shoes! GCU Students’ Association’s Events Society are inviting you to dance the night away at their Winter Ball.

Òran Mór will play host to the event on Thursday 8th of December. With a total venue capacity of 235, Society President Lucy Brown wants to see as many students as possible turning out to kick off the festive season in style.

She said: “We just want to show everyone that events are back. It’s a really good way to bring everyone together after covid and events are clearly now, more than ever, important for building the economy back up.

“It’ll be nice to see everyone dressed up and back in one place. Everything for so long was online and it’s a nice feeling knowing that we’re now not faced with that.”

Lucy has teamed up with seven other students to help deliver the night’s entertainment, which includes a three-course meal, DJ set and free entry to Saint Judes After Dark .

She said: “There’s obviously demand from home students but there’s also quite a lot of  international students who haven’t been in Scotland for very long and might not know anyone. This is a great way of meeting new people - anyone at GCU is welcome to attend.”

This will be the first Winter Ball since 2019, and Lucy, who’s in her final year at GCU, hopes the tradition will continue for years to come.

She explained: “Graduation is just around the corner, so I definitely want to help leave behind a legacy. It’s been a tough few years for the Events Society with Covid, so it’s important we get everything going again before a lot of the current committee finish up.”
