Wilfred Obi has recently started his role as Vice President for the School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment for 2023/24 following the Students’ Association elections earlier this year.

We caught up with Wilfred to find out what excites him about his new role and to learn more about him!


What prompted you to run in the Student Elections?

“I derive joy in service.”

How did you feel when you found out you had been elected?

Super excited!”

What aspect of your role excites you the most?

“To be a voice for the students.”

What are your main goals during your time as Vice President?

“To engage with students, identify our collective challenges and then liaise with the school authority to tackle those challenges.”

What can you bring to the role?

“Engagement, inclusivity and diversity.”

Where did you grow up?

“I grew up in Port Harcourt, South Nigeria.”

How do you spend your free time?

“Reading interesting novels.”

What is your favourite movie?

“I usually don’t like movies.”

Who is your hero?

“Barack Obama.”

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

“To fly to the moon and back on the same day.”

“I like to be around people and learn new things.”
