A student has made a public plea to raise money for her mother who is battling a form of mouth cancer.

Global Master of Business Administration (MBA) student Bharti Dhruw has created a fundraising page on the website ‘Impact Guru’ to help raise funds for a major surgical procedure needed to help her mother, who has battled cancer for 10 years.

Bharti, who has a strong bond with her mother Bhanmoti Dhruw, has taken matters into her own hands to help raise funds for this vital surgery. She explained: “I have been very close to my mom since birth; we would always sit together and have those mother-daughter conversations.

She holds a very special place in my heart and life, as she has been my support in all aspects. We share a unique, unbreakable bond. For me, she is a source of inspiration. Her unconditional love and support brought me here abroad to pursue my higher studies, and today, whatever I am, it’s because of her. I am so proud to be her daughter. Without her, I can't even imagine my life.”

She added: “She was diagnosed with cancer and was operated for it for the first time when I was in 10th grade. Even after the painful surgery, she took care of my entire family very well without complaining for whatever she was going through. She happily accepted her fate and moved on. Another cancer developed on the right cheek area during Covid, which was operated on.

This April during the regular routine check-up, the doctors told us she needs to be operated because the cancer was developing again and it would be a major surgery of removing the right jaw area. I was completely shattered and unprepared as now since I am grown up, it's my responsibility to take care of everything. She has taught me how to manage and accept things the way they are, and I have learned the art of balancing responsibilities from her.”

After hearing the news, Bharti knew that she had to do something to help her mother. She said: “When the doctor said it's cancer again and a big surgery is needed, I thought of seeking help from crowdfunding platform ImpactGuru in order to financially support my family as I am a student and didn't had enough savings.

I want to support as much as I can and clear of the bills as soon as possible. ImpactGuru has given me a wonderful platform where I can share my mother's story of battle with cancer and raise funds from crowdfunding. The team and the people are very supportive and doing great job. Getting help from strangers was very unexpected and a great feeling at the same time. This makes me believe that kind people exist in the world. Again, thanks to ImpactGuru. It means a lot to me and I can't even explain it in words.”

Now a couple of months into the fundraising campaign, Bharti would like to extend her thanks to those who have supported it so far. She said: “A huge thanks from my side and on my mother's behalf, to all those who have taken out their precious time from their schedule to read this article.

I just want to tell you that you all are wonderful people. I pledge to help others in need to the best of my capability.”
