GCU staff and students have come together to form The University’s first brass band.

Senior Lecturer Fiona Kennedy and first year Radiotherapy student Peter Charman joined forces to create a staff and student group for musicians to come together, practise and play regularly on campus.

Fiona and Biological and Biomedical Sciences lecturer Les Wood had previously played in brass bands outside of GCU and are keen to bring individuals together who share their passion.
Fiona said: We were both keen to create something where we could get together in The University as there’s never been a brass band before. Even if we start small and get other people involved it’d be great to see where it could take us.”

As well as coming together on a regular basis to socialise and rehearse, Fiona is keen to take the group to university-wide competitions that take place in Glasgow.
GCU Brass Band meet every Monday at 4.30pm in The Faith and Belief centre and are now looking for fellow brass enthusiasts to join the group.
