Audio Technology student makes musical debut at TRNSMT music festival 

A GCU student and up-and-coming DJ has made his debut act at a popular music festival this summer.  

Third year Audio Technology student and professional DJ Bruce Glenny had the exciting opportunity of playing his own set at the annual music festival TRSNMT, staged at Glasgow Green.  

Bruce, who has been DJ’ing since he was 17, was approached by TRSNMT act organisers, who asked him to perform at the famous festival.   

Having regularly DJ’d at various venues around Scotland, Bruce was ecstatic to be given the chance to play at such a renowned music festival. He said: “I had been playing practically every night before Covid-19, in my local area of Inverclyde as well as Glasgow and different venues down south on the odd occasion.   

 I was approached by DF Concerts who are the organisers of TRNSMT in August 2021. They had mentioned that they had seen my gigs live and on video and that some of the promoters had already been to see me live. They then offered me a 3 hour set on the Sunday of the festival at the Boogie Bar.  

 A week before the gig I received another email getting offered to do another 2 hour set on the Friday of the festival and it was an obvious answer.”  

He added: “The whole festival was a surreal event and I am still on a high from it. Overall, it has had a massive impact on my career as I am now being offered a number of gigs across Scotland and already planning festivals for 2022. The experience of playing to 6 thousand people is one I will never forget.”  

Playing at TRNSMT proved to be successful for Bruce in more ways than one. He said: “The gig went better than I could’ve imagined, with people asking who I was and my age due to the professionalism and talent of both my DJ sets.   

I am really excited to now to keep the momentum going and announce all the news to my friends and family; including all the new music I am bringing out on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming networks.”  

Looking ahead, Bruce now has a very bright future ahead of him. He said: “My team and I are now organising a number of gigs across Scotland and even a few cities in England - all of these will be announced on my socials. I am also planning on releasing a lot more music from myself and collaborations with other artists.  

In the long run I am looking to organise live shows which everyone can come along to and watch and I can’t forget graduating from GCU with my Honours Degree.”
