Students develop hot beverage delivery service for students and staff at GCU

A team of students have started trading on a new business venture, which will provide an on-site hot beverage delivery service to the GCU student community.
Students Callum Lechatellier and Luke Walker have recently launched ‘Coffee Quick’, which will allow customers to order a hot drink to their location on campus.
Final year Audio Technology student Callum discovered the idea when he was studying on campus after realising how helpful it would be to have a coffee delivered straight to him. The idea, which will work alongside the University’s catering outlets Baxter Storey, will allow staff and students to order their favourite drink without requiring them to leave their seat.
“The idea for Coffee Quick came about when I was sitting in the library and suddenly thought, I really wish I could get a coffee delivered straight to me right now so that I didn’t lose focus on my work.” Explained Callum.
He added: “I looked around the room and saw the students all sitting studying and it helped me realise that I had an opportunity to actually make that happen.”
The idea was further developed by Co-Founder Luke Walker, who helped create and design the Coffee Quick branding.
Callum believes that his entrepreneurial side comes from his family, who have all had experience in the world of business.
He said: “I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so the business mindset has been around me. My dad’s parents worked in the markets in France selling clothes and my mum is a self-employed jewellery maker and silversmith. I suppose it’s in my blood!”
After months of development and planning, Coffee Quick has now been given the go-ahead to start trading thanks to the support of the GCU Entrepreneurial Hub.
The Hub, which launched in 2024, provides business support, funding and advice to those looking to start their own business venture.
“The GCU Entrepreneurial Hub is a great resource for anyone looking to find out more about business. The staff that work with the Hub are really friendly and will help you with anything that you need.” Callum explained.
“Just recently, we have had everything signed off to allow us to start trading as a business and we were also awarded funding from the GCU Entrepreneurial Hub seed fund.”
He added: “I’m hoping to keep the business going even when I graduate. Whatever happens with it, it has been a great learning experience for me and it’s given me the confidence to perhaps start more businesses in the future.”
