Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires you to provide more than one type of authentication for a login to a device, website or app, or other transaction. It adds an extra layer of protection to your account and is used on a regular basis for many online transactions such as banking, shopping, social media accounts, or PayPal.
MFA requires you to authenticate using:
- Something you know: your username and password
and
- Something you have: a trusted device, such as your mobile phone, on which to receive and respond to verification requests.
Cybersecurity is a vital concern for all universities as they are routinely targeted by malicious hackers.
The University is introducing a new Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) platform to give students enhanced security from cyber threats.
We would encourage you to register as soon as you can as we will be migrating student systems across to the new platform over the coming months and you will need to be registered with GCU MFA to access them beyond that period.
Setting up MFA is a simple process. You can use our easy-to-follow GCU MFA setup guide.
For GCU Remote Labs users, you will still require to use PingID whilst we migrate services over to GCU MFA. Please ensure you have registered for GCU MFA by 30th November 2024.
