Setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA) using GCU MFA
The University is upgrading our MFA to a new platform called GCU MFA for a much-improved defence against cyber threats.
During the transition process, students who use GCU Remote Labs, will need to register for both PingID and GCU MFA.
Please use the simple user guides below to set up the system(s) on your account:

How to register for GCU MFA
You're required to set up a minimum of one authentication method in addition to your existing password. The following authentication methods are available:
Best for mobile device
- Open/download the GCU Student App
- Select the Register for MFA button on the student home page
- Select one of the following authentication methods and follow the prompts to complete the setup:
- Text message
- Mobile device (App)
Best for laptop/desktop
- Go to GCU Identity Portal and use your Glasgow Caledonian email address (****@caledonian.ac.uk)
- Insert your University email password and follow the instructions on the screen to help you verify your account
- Once your account has been verified, click on ‘Go to User Portal’, then click on ‘Get Started’ in the subsequent pop-up
- Select one of the following authentication methods and follow the prompts to complete the set up:
- Text message
- Mobile device (App)
- Third-party authenticator app (such as Microsoft/Google Authenticator App)
