Booking your first appointment with a Mental Health Adviser
The Wellbeing Service aims to offer appropriate help as quickly and efficiently as possible.
To help us do this, please complete the online form on this page. A member of the Student Wellbeing adviser team will contact you as soon as possible. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
You must be registered with a GP to access help through the Wellbeing Service. If you're not currently registered with a GP, you can find your local practice online. If you'd like to see a Student Wellbeing Adviser for support with registering with a GP, just let us know on the appointment form.
This service is staffed between 9-5pm, Monday-Friday. Please note the Student Wellbeing Service is not an emergency service. If someone you know is expressing thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or risk-taking behaviour, and you have a high concern for their safety, advise them to contact their GP and arrange an appointment immediately.
If you think the person may be at immediate risk of harming themselves or someone else (such as threatening to take their own life or the life of another person), call the emergency services on 999.
If you're concerned for your own safety or the safety of another student, you can also find emergency contacts available online.
You can access online support through 24/7 facilitated mental health support forum, Togetherall - 24/7 Support. You may also find our self-help resources and fortnightly newsletter helpful.
What to expect at your appointment
To request an initial appointment with a Mental Health Adviser, you can complete the first appointment form. Please use your GCU email address (which ends in @caledonian.ac.uk) when filling out this form as this is our preferred method of contacting students.
Following your initial contact with the service you will be invited to attend a one-to-one meeting with a member of the team. We currently offer appointment via phone, online video meeting or in person.
