This page has details of out-of-hours and details of crisis support resources for students at Glasgow Caledonian University.
The Student Wellbeing Service is available 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday (except on public holidays and University closure days).
Outside of these hours, you are not alone. There is support available to you.
In an emergency
It's not uncommon for people to feel at a crisis point and you are doing the right thing by seeking support and advice. If the feeling is overwhelming or you feel so distressed that you have thoughts of harming yourself or you feel you are at risk of harming others then you need to:
Phone or visit your GP as soon as possible to tell them how you are feeling. Find your local GP via this link.

- Therapy Route provides information on helplines, suicide hotlines and crisis lines from across the world.
- Suicide.Org provides information on international prevention, awareness and support organisations.
- Befrienders Worldwide provides an outline of the contact details of helplines by country.
There are also resources online and through apps
- The Stay Alive app is a suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.
- Papyrus is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide, and have a range of helpful support services and resources on their website

If you are worried about a GCU Student we have a number of resources for you. This includes resources for students who are worried about other students, staff members who are concerned, or the parents/carers of students. Find these at our worried about Someone webpage.
We recognise that the transition of moving into new surroundings and leaving friend groups from home can for somewhat isolating and unsettling for some students. Here at GCU, our aim is to ensure that we establish a community where everyone feels welcome and where students can settle into their studies and wider university life as smoothly as possible. We have a lot of information for parent, carers and family members of students here at GCU to help them settle into University life.
Campus Security is located in the William Harley Building on the main Campus and at Caledonian Court.
Security Services are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
