Why GCU?
GCU was recently ranked 5th in the world and number one in the UK for promoting gender quality, and 69th overall out of 1,155 universities across the world, by the Times Higher Education University Social Impact Rankings - the only global performance table that assesses universities against the Sustainable Development Goals. We have also been recognised by Times Higher Education as one of the eight UK institutions best positioned to meet the challenges thrown up by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our welcoming university community of 1,500 staff and 22,000 students from more than 130 countries delivers excellence in learning and teaching with research in key areas leading to us to being rated by the Research Excellence Framework as the top modern university in Scotland by research power.
Following the Quality Assurance Agency’s Enhancement-Led Institutional Review (ELIR), GCU achieved effectiveness which is the highest judgement that can be awarded.
In line with its commitment to the Common Good, and to its staff, GCU is proud to be a Living Wage employer and signatory to the Scottish Business Pledge. We are also committed signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant. In line with our commitment to support Reservists we offer an additional 10 days paid leave to Reservist and CFAV (Cadet Force and Adult Volunteer) employees, to allow them to undertake mandatory training, plus up to 10 days unpaid leave if required.
