Development
GCU recognise the importance of development and as such a number of tools are available to assist staff in identifying and achieving their career goals. Development tools include the People Passport programme aimed at all staff with people management and leadership responsibilities. The GCU Academic Promotions Scheme opens annually and provides staff with the opportunity to apply for a promotion to various levels within the organisation. Staff are encouraged to consider their career pathway and utilize the development tools available.
Library
GCU employees have access to the library located within the Sir Alex Ferguson Library . The Library offers a variety of books, e-book, journals and e-journals on a variety of topics.

City Link bus offers a discount when traveling outside the Strathclyde area. Details can be found on the Smart Travel webpage. Please enter your staff number as displayed on your staff card in place of a student number.
As part of its commitment to promoting health and wellbeing and reducing its environmental impact, GCU is working with Halfords to offer GCU staff a Cycle to Work (CTW) scheme. These schemes encourage employees to take up more active modes of travel by removing barriers to bicycle ownership. The scheme opens once a year and will be promoted internally when its seeking applications.
GCU has secured a 50% discount on the annual subscription for Glasgow's mass bike hire scheme. The discount reduces the annual membership from £60 to £30 and gives access to reduced hire rates. To access, use a @gcu.ac.uk email and select "Glasgow Caledonian University" in the partner field when completing the sign-up form
Hotels- GCU has partnered with a variety of hotels in the local area to provide you as a member of staff, a guest of the university, a student or an event organiser booking with the university with reduced rates for accommodation in the city. The rates are also open to friends and relatives.
Staff can benefit from membership of the Glasgow Credit Union, the most successful Credit Union in the UK, for saving accounts, insurance, fixed and variable rate mortgages.
