Sifullah is a full-time PhD student and GCU London studentship scholar. Sifullah attained his MSc in International Economics and Finance with distinction from Glasgow Caledonian University. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka. He has also completed the Islamic Finance Summer School from Durham University.
Sifullah has been working in training and academia for the last nine years in different capacities and in a range of disciplines. He has extensive experience of working in development finance, Islamic finance and emerging capital markets with multiple stakeholders. He has served as Research Fellow at the Islamic Economics Research Bureau, and as Senior Assistant Director (Training) at the Institute of Microfinance, funded under DFID, UK Aid. He was also Consultant for devising academic programmes, modules, and curricula at the Institute for Inclusive Finance and Development. He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market, under the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Bangladesh.

Current research
Sifullah's current research is aimed at developing a sustainable climate risk financing model for Bangladesh. The research explores the impacts of climate risk on country-level development determinants and the supply and demand-side dynamics of devising a climate risk financing model. The research also looks into the possibility of linking the national social protection schemes with climate risk insurance mechanisms for the country.
