Revitalising older patients' health

Our researchers identified that just 25 minutes of slow walking each day for older hospital patients could transform their health and cut the number of ward readmissions – potentially reducing healthcare costs around the world.

Leading experts, including Professor of Health Behaviour Dynamics Sebastien Chastin, concluded a stroll is the best prescription for patients to stay active and reduce return hospital admissions after they are discharged.

Professor Chastin was part of an international team analysing the world’s entire body of research on the effects of hospitalisation on the health of older adults.
