Academic Writing Centre
The Graduate School provides a comprehensive research writing programme for postgraduate research students and staff. We offer a range of workshops tailored to the specific demands of academic writing at each stage of the research process.
The Academic Writing Centre provides opportunities for self-directed academic writing projects. Our facilitated writing sessions -including GCU Power Hour of Writing and Power Hour Days of Writing - help you make effective use of your time and create a supportive and inclusive environment for an independent research and writing community.
Throughout the year specialist workshops and additional events are delivered by the Academic Writing Centre covering topics including:
- Developing academic writing strategies
- Writing for publication
- Overcoming procrastination,
- Editing your own work.
In addition, we are designing online resources, available to postgraduate research students and staff via the Academic Writing Centre SharePoint.
The Academic Writing Centre is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and promotes academic integrity. We strive to empower researcher to become independent and confident writers.
While Dr Stephanie Zihms is currently on maternity leave, please contact Dr Erifyli Tsagkari, Lecturer in Academic Writing and Researcher Development, to find out more about the Power Hour sessions and how to join the virtual Academic Writing Centre.
