HR Excellence in Research Award
‘A UK-wide process, incorporating the QAA Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes and the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, enables institutions to gain the European Commission’s ‘HR excellence in research’ badge, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.'
GCU gained the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission in 2013 in recognition of the University’s commitment to the career management and skills development of its researchers.
Vitae, the global leader in supporting the professional development of researchers and part of the Careers Research & Advisory Centre, co-ordinates and provides support for UK institutions engaging with the initiative.
In 2020 the European Commission confirmed that the revised UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers has been formally recognised as equivalent to the European Charter and Code. The revised Concordat principles are now reflected within the UK HR Excellence in Research Award process.
The University undertook its most recent review of its HR Excellence in Research Award in 2022. The review report and update on actions can be downloaded below:
