The Graduate School established the Emotionally Demanding Research Network for researchers at Glasgow Caledonian with experience of conducting emotionally demanding or challenging research. Although engaging in traumatic or sensitive research themes can be rewarding, it is important to be mindful of how this might affect your mental health and wellbeing.

DARE (Developing Academic Researcher Excellence) Steering Group

The DARE Steering group is an action orientated group focused on overseeing progress and ensuring delivery in all areas of the HR Excellence in Research Award (HREiR), the Researcher Development Concordat (RD Concordat) and their linked GCU action plan.
Members of DARE are drawn from across the university with two Early Career Researcher representatives (ECRs) from each academic school along side Graduate School, RIO and People Services colleagues. This composition ensures best practice can be shared and a joined-up approach facilitated.
The DARE Steering Group reports to the University Research Committee.
The British Academy Early Career Researcher Network

GCU has teamed up with universities across the country to form a Scottish Hub of the British Academy Early Career Research Network.
The Early Career Researcher Network is an inclusive, researcher-led membership body accessible to all UK-based early career researchers (ECRs) working in the humanities and social sciences – regardless of their funding source or background.
GCU researchers are invited to join the ECR Network and take advantage of the many free workshops and events on offer. Register via the British Academy's Registration Form .
