Application process
Submit your PhD application using the online application portal. You will be asked to select from a list of strategic research subjects and available intakes.
How to apply
Before you begin an application, you are invited and encouraged to contact the research supervisor(s). You will find their details listed on the PhD project. You can search the available PhD projects here.
If proposing your own PhD topic, you are encouraged to make contact with the relevant research department. Here is a Guide to writing a PhD proposal.
During the application process, you will be asked to provide:
- Your academic qualifications including in progress qualifications and IELTS if English is not your first language
- At least one letter of reference on institution/company headed paper
- Any other relevant documentation requested in the project specification
Minimum entry criteria
You will be asked to evidence the following:
- UK honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent) or masters degree with research skills relevant to your chosen research project or PhD topic
- Equivalent professional qualifications and any appropriate research experience will be considered
- English language level of IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no element below 6.0.
Applicant interviews
You will be contacted for an interview if successfully shortlisted. Online interviews are available for overseas candidates.
