Abeeda Khatoon is a Staff Optometrist in the Vision Centre within the Vision Sciences department at GCU. Abeeda graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Optometry from GCU in 2005, and has practiced clinically since attaining her professional registration in 2006. In 2015, Abeeda returned to the Vision Sciences department as a Clinical Supervisor, supporting the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates in the Vision Sciences programmes. In 2017, Abeeda successfully secured a position as a Researcher within the Public Health team within the department, and has continued her interest in the analysis of eye care service provision. Abeeda has also extended her clinical work into the charity sector having provided vital vision screening to displaced Syrians in Lebanon. In 2019, Abeeda joined the Vision Centre as a Staff Optometrist and later gained the role of Lecturer. In 2020, Abeeda also became an examiner for the College of Optometrists; the professional body overseeing the training of graduate optometrists.
