Alan Middleton is currently a Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Community Health, with a responsibility for student/staff exchange and mobility through international opportunities. Working with key individuals in the Department of Nursing & Community Health and the wider School of Health & Life Sciences to create and promote internationalisation of the Programmes through a range of learning activities and experiences.
Alan has an MSc in Community Health, a PgC in Higher Education, and a BSc in Health Studies with a Diploma in Community Health Nursing. He is a Nursing and Midwifery Council registered Learning Disability (Intellectual Disability) Nurse, he is also a registered Adult Nurse, and has a Lecturer/Practice Educator qualification.
With a specific interest throughout his clinical and academic career in the additional and unmet health needs of people with learning disabilities, his Doctoral study is focused on PhD by Previous Publication with Research activity centred around promoting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities, with a particular interest in sexual health.
Alan is an External Examiner for other UK HEIs and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
