Alicia holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) from Monash University, Australia, where her undergraduate Honours project focused on the development of a malaria vaccine. Since graduating, Alicia has worked as a research assistant within laboratories in Australia & Scotland, leading projects on novel drug strategies for Type 1 Diabetes and Leishmaniasis. Her interest in neglected and emerging infectious disease lead her to begin a PhD at GCU in 2020, studying the emerging fungal pathogen Candida auris.
