Project title: Formation of by-products and assessment of their toxicity in the treatment of organic persistent pollutants from water.
The proposed research is designed to assess the by-products formation and its toxicity during advanced oxidation process in the treatment of pollutants. Transformation of products during treatment is major concern for environmental pollution and health hazard as by-products may result in as same or sometime at higher toxic level as of its parent compound. Water treatment needs more uniform experimental conditions, simulating more realistic conditions also, standardized methods in parallel to gain insight into the significance of real world conditions so as to be able to extract relevant conclusion on the formation of by-products during the treatment. Thereby, this project is a novel approach to water treatment scientific society.
