Athanasios is a Lecturer in finance, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is the Module Leader of Corporate Finance and Financial Strategies and Introduction to Quantitative Data Analysis, as well as the Mobility Coordinator for the department of Finance, Accounting and Risk.
Athanasios holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Strathclyde, an MSc in Finance (Distinction) also from the University of Strathclyde and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business. He is also a Fellow (FHEA) of the Higher Education Academy.
Athanasios’ main research interests and expertise are in the areas of corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. His work has been presented at international peer-reviewed conferences worldwide and published in internationally excellent journals including Abacus, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.
Before joining Glasgow Caledonian University in January 2020, Athanasios held the roles of Lecturer in finance at Nottingham Trent University and Teaching Assistant at the University of Strathclyde.
Prior to embarking on an academic career, Athanasios also worked in several industry roles such as those of Financial Analyst and Financial Advisor. The experience and insights gained into business perspectives have heavily informed Athanasios’ teaching, including a commitment to enhancing the learning experience of students.
