Dr Azmy Gowaid received the BSc (First Class Hons.) and MSc degrees in electrical engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2007 and 2011, respectively; and the PhD. degree from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, in Jan 2017.

From 2010 to 2013, he was an R&D engineer with Spiretronic LLC, Alexandria branch, Egypt. He was also a teaching assistant at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Alexandria University, from 2008 to 2013. In 2016, he was appointed a research associate at the Power Electronics, Drives, and Energy Conversion (PEDEC) Research Group, University of Strathclyde, UK.

He is currently with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Glasgow Caledonian University as a lecturer of electrical power engineering. His current research interests include power electronics for smart grid, solar and wind energy integration, peer-to-peer electric energy trading, high voltage DC transmission (HVDC), and power system dynamics. Dr Gowaid has a number of highly-cited publications in top-ranked journals and conferences in the field of electrical power engineering.
