Bernadette’s PhD looked at employability and talent management and how these concepts impact on graduates in particular. She also has an MPhil focused on sociological perspectives in the workplace and is an active researcher; she is regularly asked to contribute to global trade publications, commenting on trends in graduate recruitment and retention challenges.
In 2020 her publications have centred on performance management and leadership and a metaphysical approach to talent management.
She has experience in module and multiple programme leadership roles facilitating the teaching, learning and assessment experience for up to 600 students at one time. She is also involved in Business Development activity and delivers training packages in industry on behalf of the University.
Bernadette is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), an academic member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), as well as having graduate member status of the Common Purpose Matrix programme which promotes social entrepreneurship in a global setting.
She has undertaken work for the SQA in Saudi Arabia, Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow Tourism Skills Action Plan. She is currently leading Business Management provision for talent in Africa for the African Leadership College in Mauritius and is Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Development.
