An alumnus of Glasgow Caledonian University and with a shared set of values, Bill joins the Board of Governors inspired by GCU’s declaration as a “university for the common good”. Recently retired as Country Managing Director of Accenture, Scotland after 21 years specialising in Business Process Outsourcing. He has worked across multiple sectors including Telecommunications; Oil and Gas; Logistics and Media and Entertainment supporting major corporations by designing and leading transformational change underpinned by outsourcing.
Bill started his career in defence avionics at Ferranti International before moving into the energy sector with the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board, (now SSE). An accountant by profession he was part of the team leading the energy privatisation initiative there.
Bill joined Accenture in 1998 working across 30+ countries including a 3 year spell in Russia. He took on the role of Country Managing Director, Scotland in 2008 and oversaw significant growth of Accenture's business in Oil and gas and Financial Services and the opening of a new Edinburgh HQ in 2018.
An experienced Non-Executive Director, Bill is Currently Chair of Young Enterprise, Scotland and a Board member at Museums and Galleries Scotland.
Since retiring from Accenture, Bill has been operating as an independent advisor to Boards.
