Bridget’s clinical nursing background is in acute neurosurgery & neurology at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
In 2008 she graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Distinction). Bridget then worked at the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Profession’s Research Unit (NMAHP RU) at GCU working on a number of stroke-related projects including the James Lind Alliance (JLA) Life after Stroke Priority Setting Partnership project that identified the Top 10 research priorities of stroke survivors, carers, and health professionals for life after stroke (2011).
The JLA project stimulated an interest in long-term stroke rehabilitation, and she graduated in 2019 with a CSO PhD Fellowship: “Long-term consequences of stroke: what is important to stroke survivors and health professionals?”
From 2017 Bridget worked at SHLS, GCU as Project Manager on the HEADS: UP study (Helping Ease Anxiety & Stress after Stroke) on the Development and Feasibility stages through to the recently completed HEADS: UP online RCT pilot.
Bridget is now working on NESSIE (NIHR Evidence Synthesis Scotland InitiativE) project at NMAHP RU, that aims to produce evidence syntheses across a wide range of topics relevant to health care, public health and social care.
