Chris is a lecturer in Occupational Therapy and the current programme leader for the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme.
Chris graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) degree in occupational therapy in 1999. Chris then worked in the NHS for 16 years, where his clinical specialty was adult community mental health, working primarily with people who experience severe and enduring conditions, such as psychosis and bipolar disorder. During this time, Chris was engaged in student education, working with many students as a Field Work Educator.
In 2013, Chris was seconded to a split clinical/academic post at Glasgow Caledonian University for 18 months. This involved working two days per week as an Occupational Therapist in a Community Mental Health Team and three days at Glasgow Caledonian University as an Occupational Therapy lecturer. In 2015, Chris returned to Glasgow Caledonian University on a permanent basis as an Occupational Therapy lecturer.
In 2016, Chris graduated from the University of the West of Scotland, with an MSc in Psychosocial Interventions. During the course of his studies, Chris carried out multi-site primary data collection research, on occupational therapy and social prescribing. In 2017, Chris graduated with Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, from Glasgow Caledonian University. As part of this study, Chris undertook pedagogical action research, on formative educational tasks and the use of assessment rubrics with students.
Chris teaches in both the BSc (Honours) and MSc (Pre-registration) Occupational Therapy programmes and has a keen interest in interprofessional education.
