Daniel Baxter is a Senior Lecturer and teaches in the field of International Tourism and Events Management, covering all aspects of experience management, internationalization, event tourism and sustainable development at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Daniel is also the Assistant Head: International for the Glasgow School for Business and Society.
Daniel Baxter is working towards a Doctorate of Business Administration entitled "Exploring the motivations and demotivation of academics involved in Transnational Education (TNE) at Post-92 Universities in Scotland." Daniel is an active researcher with research published in the Journal of Events Management, The International Journal of Tourism Cities, and The Journal of Policy Research in Tourism, Leisure and Events.
His research interests include TNE in Higher Education and he is actively researching in the area of drag culture and, more recently, the LGBTQ+ communities' experience of safe spaces within tourism and events.
Daniel has worked in the tourism and events industry for over ten years in various commercial and operational roles for tour operators, airlines and destinations. This experience heavily informs Daniel's current teaching, where he focuses on creating opportunities that allow students to understand the practical implications required of them as future tourism and events industry leaders. He places great emphasis on applied learning, embedding live client projects within each of his modules, ensuring that students have exposure to the sector they will be working within.
