David Hutchison is an Honorary Professor in Media Policy in the Department of Media and Journalism.
He lectured at the University for over 30 years and was involved in the development of several courses, including the BA in Media and Communication and the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Journalism.
Among his publications are Media Policy, and the co-edited volumes, The Media in Scotland and Scotland’s Referendum and the Media. He has published over 30 chapters and journal articles, the most recent of which is Broadcasting and Devolution: Radical Future? (Critical Studies in Television).
He has been a member of the BBC’s General Advisory Council and the Scottish Film Council. He chaired Regional Screen Scotland from 2010-14.
He has also written for the theatre and continues to take an active interest in issues of media policy and direction in the UK, and in other countries, particularly Canada.
