I began my working life in NHS hospital laboratories, initially in Haematology at the Glasgow Western Infirmary and latterly in Medical Genetics at Yorkhill Hospital, Glasgow. During that time I gained a wealth of knowledge and technical skills that have stood me in good stead for career development. After leaving the NHS I graduated as a mature student from the University of Paisley with an Honours degree (1st class) in Biomedical Sciences and thereafter I completed my PhD here at GCU. I have been a member of the teaching team at GCU since 2002 and have been the programme leader for the BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology since it began, in 2009.
