Emma is a lecturer and PhD student in Vision Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian.

Emma graduated with a degree in optometry from Glasgow Caledonian in 2019. Following the completion of her pre-registration year, Emma worked in the community as an optometrist before returning to Glasgow Caledonian to start her PhD in late 2022. Emma has worked as a clinical demonstrator at Glasgow Caledonian while completing her PhD, teaching clinical skills at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervising students in final year clinics at the GCU Vision Centre. Emma completed a postgraduate certificate in research in 2023, and started her role as a lecturer in Vision Sciences in 2025.

Emma’s PhD research explores the financial and quality of life impact of myopia in the UK. She has a particular interest in myopia management and the public health aspects of eye care. Emma works as part of the Myopia Management Clinic team at Glasgow Caledonian, which provides monitoring, advice and interventions for children with myopia.
