Researcher

School of Health and Life Sciences

I am a Research Fellow at Glasgow Caledonian University, School of Health and Life Sciences, but I also hold honorary positions with the University of Nottingham (honorary associate professor), Public Health Scotland, and have “Affiliate” status with the University of Glasgow.

My background is in Epidemiology and biostatistics. In general, I want to improve risk prediction/risk stratification for patients with chronic liver disease.
I work with innovative datasets integrating clinical, biomarker and genetic information, including the UK biobank, and the “STOP-HCV” study.

I am a Medical Research Foundation Fellow. I lead the “THRIVE-SVR” study, which aims to develop new prognostic models for patients at risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common type of primary liver cancer. The Medical Research Foundation website has more information about the study.

I am a collaborator on the “DeLIVER” study, which is led by the University of Oxford and aims to increase early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma. I also closely work with expert scientists at the University of Zurich and Dresden to characterise the genetic factors associated with chronic liver disease progression.
