Heather is a Data Scientist and early career researcher based in the Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedicine with a background in multi-omics data analysis. She has just completed her PhD (Medical Research Council doctoral training programme) at the University of Edinburgh, where she focused on elucidating the dysregulation of the circadian rhythms in individuals with critical illness (acute pancreatitis).
Heather has a special interest in the determinants of physical activity in the Scottish population, assessed through the employment of probabilistic graphical modelling known as Bayesian networks. Previous similar work includes epidemiological modelling of socio-demographic variables and physical activity in the Chilean population.
Research Interests: Bayesian networks; health inequalities; physical activity; public health; systems science.
