Professor Iain Cameron is a ‘Chartered Builder’, ‘Chartered Safety Practitioner’, ‘Chartered Manager’, and ‘Chartered Director’. He graduated in Building and then worked for Monk / Trafalgar House Construction for six years within the Clyde Nuclear Submarine Base at Faslane with responsibility for Project Planning, Quality and Safety.
Since joining Glasgow Caledonian University he has held roles as a Lecturer and Programme Leader in Construction Management, Senior Lecturer, Head of Department of Construction Management and Economics, and Vice Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment.
He was Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment up until June 2020.
Iain is also a Member of Board of Trustees of The Caledonian College of Engineering in the Sultanate of Oman with oversight of Glasgow Caledonian University’s interests in Oman.
Iain was returned in RAE2001, RAE2008, and REF2014. He has co-authored one million pounds of safety research for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), and The Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC). He has authored numerous articles on the betterment of safety and health in construction. He has been an invited keynote speaker at company, national and international safety conferences and forums. He has held regional and national positions with professional bodies such as CIOB and IOSH. He was advanced to Professor in recognition of his career contribution to construction safety and health management.
He is a keen golfer playing out of The Royal Troon Golf Club, The Glasgow Golf Club, and The New Club St Andrews.
