Jennifer works as a part time PhD research student within the SHLS Ageing Well Research Group while practicing as a Wound Specialist Podiatrist with NHS Lanarkshire.
Jennifer graduated from GCU in 2015 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry at GCU and has since undertaken postgraduate modules in advanced clinical practice and research methods. She gained research experience working as a research assistant with University of Plymouth on 3D-printed orthotics for diabetic foot ulcer prevention, while gaining clinical experience as an NHS podiatrist. Working predominantly with older adults engendered her interest in ways of promoting mobility and independence into old age.
Jennifer is the recipient of a joint NHS Lanarkshire-GCU PhD Scholarship to investigate the development of functional decline and sarcopenia in acutely ill older patients treated in inpatient and ‘Hospital at Home’ settings.
