Laura Fregonese is a full-time PhD student in the “Safeguarding Health through Infection Prevention” research team (SHIP) within the School of Health and Life Sciences.
Laura begun her career in Italy as registered nurse graduating in 1992. She moved to Scotland in 2003 working in a long care residence and acute hospital clinical areas. In 2017 she gained a MSc in Advanced Practice (perioperative care). Laura still practices her clinical and leadership nursing skills by working flexible hours in trauma theatres at the Royal infirmary of Edinburgh.
Laura’s genuine interest is to promote and to deliver good quality of care that focus on a person-centred approach. Her research project will contribute to understand the patients’ experiences and their family members’ perceptions of being cared for in isolation for infection and prevention control.
She is supervised by Professor Kay Currie and Professor Lawrie Elliott
