Laura joined GCU in 2019 as a lecturer in fashion and is currently program leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Design with Business. Laura’s specialist areas for teaching in fashion based around fashion design covering the design process, pattern construction, garment manufacture and visualization of students work.
Laura has previously conducted research into pedagogical approaches in creative pattern cutting and design principles in nurses working uniforms. She has been a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and obtained her PG Cert in Professional Studies (Academic Practice) in 2016.
Previously Laura worked as a fashion lecturer at Staffordshire University, London College of Design and Fashion in Hanoi, Vietnam and as a fashion applications supervisor at Grays School of Art, Robert Gordon University accumulating over 14 year’s experience working in education.
Prior to joining the education section Laura worked in industry for nine years as a designer and technical support.
