Dr Lindsey Drylie Carey

Lindsey Drylie Carey is a Reader in Marketing at GCU. Her research has focused on sustainability since she achieved her PhD in consumer psychology in 2009. Lindsey has published in top-ranking journals such as the European Journal of Marketing, the Journal of International Marketing and Industrial Marketing Management.

She is currently the Principal Investigator for an EU co-funded Erasmus + €300 000 Strategic Partnership leading four European academic institutions and two global industry partners in the development of employability skills for sustainable businesses (Project Card). She presents at academic and industry-focused conferences on a regular basis and comments on sustainability and consumer issues in the press and on TV.

Lindsey’s teaching is in the field of marketing and communication covering both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. She also teaches research methods and she headed the Masters in Research Methods programme for three years while conducting a secondment as Deputy Director of the Graduate School.

She has also led the BA Marketing programme and is currently the module leader for Digital Business and Marketing. She is an Examiner for a Professional Doctorate programme at an external higher education institution. Lindsey has supervised a number of doctoral students to completion and has examined doctoral theses both within the UK and internationally.

Lindsey’s research interests cover sustainability in the context of fashion, luxury and food as well as interdisciplinary research methods. She has recently published Firms in the Fashion Industry: Sustainability, Luxury and Communication in an International Context. Her latest book is entitled Making Literature Reviews Work: A Multidisciplinary Guide to Systematic Literature Reviews. Before her academic career, she held various positions in industry related to marketing and communications.
