Professor Louise Dixon joined Glasgow Caledonian to take up the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor Education in February 2024. Louise is responsible for developing and delivering the University’s Strategy for Education and providing leadership and direction for the teaching and learning activities.
Louise began her career at the Universities of Birmingham and Liverpool where she studied for her undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Psychology. She went on to qualify as a HCPC-registered Forensic Psychologist alongside her first academic post at the University of Birmingham. Here she continued her love for applied research and teaching in the discipline of Forensic Psychology.
In 2015 Louise relocated to New Zealand to take up the role of Reader at Victoria University of Wellington and grow the discipline of Forensic Psychology through the development of post-graduate programmes that incorporated work-integrated learning. She was promoted to Professor and Dean of Science in 2021, where she led five large schools whose focus spanned life, physical and social sciences, and science communication.
Throughout her career Louise has demonstrated innovation in the strategic design and development of degree programmes, applied research projects, centres, and departments. Through her research, teaching, and strategic leadership she has influenced practice and policy in a range of settings that have partnered with science and higher education. She is excited to bring her skills and experience to Scotland and contribute to the common good through the next chapter of her career at Glasgow Caledonian.
