Mandy joined the teaching team from an NHS background, having worked in various NHS boards as a clinician and manager before taking up lecturing full time.
Abbott’s interests are in sports injuries and lower limb biomechanics. She works with sports professionals including the SRU and a number of football teams from the SPL. As one of the Clinical Directors for Special Olympics, Mandy has been involved in national and world games and has been able to involve the students in foot screening of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Abbott’s research interests are in the effects of orthoses on human movement. In 2010 Mandy was awarded her Fellowship of the College of Podiatrists in Podiatric Medicine from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
