Marian is a Lecturer in Human Nutrition & Dietetics and Programme Lead for the BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition & Dietetics programme. She is a Registered Dietitian, has a MSc in Allergy and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Marian started her career in Dietetics as a mature student at the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University), graduating in 2001. She spent her first year as a Registered Dietitian in an acute role at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle Upon Tyne, before moving back to Scotland where she worked as a locum for several months undertaking a variety of acute and community roles. She joined Glasgow community dietetics in 2003, where she worked until 2009 when she undertook an advanced practitioner role in teenage and adult food allergy. She gained her MSc in Allergy in 2014; the focus for her dissertation was the health related quality of life of food allergic teenagers in the West of Scotland.
During her time in her specialist allergy post she combined this with a part-time academic role at GCU and in 2019 moved from her clinical post to a fully academic role. She has a wide range of teaching and dietetic experience, as well as a special interest in food allergy.
