Dr Mark Spicer is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Science in the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment.
Mark studied for his degree and PhD in Chemistry at the University of Southampton and lectured in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde between 1990 and 2018.
He is now a lecturer in Chemistry on the Forensic Investigation degree programme. His research interests include the development of ligands to stabilise unusual oxidation states of metal ions, use of high oxidation state compounds in water purification and in disinfection, the development of electrolytes for use in redox flow batteries, and the speciation and quantification of metal ions in the environment.
