Prior to her appointment as a lecturer, Melissa worked in the private sector for a multinational corporation and ran her own international venture for six years. Moreover, she displays a versatile academic background with a BA in Translation and Interpreting and an MSc in International Business Management. She is currently working towards her PhD accreditation.
Melissa was appointed as a lecturer in Management in October 2022, teaching in the BA Business Management programme. The modules she is involved in are wide-ranging, from operations management, research methodology, and sustainability management to entrepreneurship and innovation. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and engages actively in pedagogically-focused research in order to bring new concepts into the classroom.
Her research interests include gender equality coupled with public policymaking, female entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and international contexts.
